TYPE PR4 HYDRAULIC PUMPS ARE VALVE-CONTROLLED, SELF-PRIMING RADIAL PISTON PUMPS WITH CONSTANT DISPLACEMENT. THE PISTONS ARE ARRANGED RADIALLY AROUND THE ECCENTRIC SHAFT. AS THE PISTONS MOVE DOWNWARD, THE WORKING SPACE IN THE CYLINDER ENLARGES, CREATING AN UNDERPRESSURE THAT OPENS THE SUCTION VALVE, CONNECTING THE SUCTION CHAMBER TO THE WORKING SPACE. WHEN THE PISTONS MOVE UPWARD, THE SUCTION VALVE CLOSES, AND THE PRESSURE VALVE OPENS, ALLOWING HYDRAULIC FLUID TO FLOW TO THE SYSTEM THROUGH THE PRESSURE CONNECTION.
